Canoe and kayak roll practice sessions at the Santa Rosa Ridgway pool. Come to learn or tune up your roll, practice wet exits and reentries, work on bracing, stroke techniques or just to connect with other paddlers. We meet Thursdays at The Ridgway pool in Santa Rosa from 7 PM to about 8:45PM. The Ridgway pool is located on Ridgeway Ave off of Mendocino right next to Santa Rosa High School. The water is warm but the air is often cold, so wet suits are recommended as well as PFD's and helmets. Paddlers must bring their own clean boats and gear, instruction is not provided although advice and tips are available for the asking.
The practice is co-sponsored by the Sequoia Paddlers and the Santa Rosa Parks and Recreation Department. The cost is $5.
Please e-mail Sig at sigj@sonic.net if you have any questions. Happy paddling.

Sun., July 8, we will have a skills day/paddle at Lake DelValle, near Livermore. This will feature some practice getting back in a boat if you fall out - or helping someone else who needs it.
If you have never tried this you should - its way better to have tried it in safe conditions than to learn it in an emergency. If you have tried it before this is a good chance to practice and also to help others learn.
While we always plan easy trips there are times when conditions change quickly and something could happen. Having these skills makes it safer for you and others with you. This is especially important for people who paddle kayaks and use sprayskirts. We can also demonstrate and practice bracing; using your paddle to keep a kayak from capsizing.
If you can paddle you can do a rescue, it doesn't require an unusual amount of strength.
Meet at 10:00 at the Lake DelValle boat ramp.
Bring bathing suit/dry clothes, etc.
Contact Don - caprijon4don@yahoo.com to RSVP or for more info.
Directions: Del Valle Regional Park is located on Del Valle Road off Mines Road south of Livermore. Exit I-580 eastbound or westbound in Livermore at North Livermore Avenue. Head south and proceed through town (North Livermore Avenue will become South Livermore Avenue in town). About 1.5 miles outside town, turn right at Mines Road, go about 3.5 miles and continue straight on Del Valle Road (Mines Road turns left). The park entrance is about four miles ahead.
