The Sequoia Paddlers (SPS) is a section of the Redwood Chapter of the Sierra Club and an affiliate of the American Canoe Association, American Rivers, American Whitewater Affiliation, Friends Of the River, Friends of the Russian River, and the National Organization for River Sports.

The Sequoia Paddlers hosts program and outdoor meetings in Santa Rosa, California, and publishes a bimonthly newsletter. We offer trips, sponsor a weekly roll practice, have safety and instructional programs, and conduct various conservation projects.

The Sequoia Paddlers is devoted to the promotion of paddlesports and waterway conservation. Our goal is to have fun - safely! The means to that end is through activities and education.

VIRUS WARNING - Spammers have been spoofing Sequoia Paddler email addresses. They send out bogus email, for example "support@sequoiapc.org" or "billybob1@sequoiapc". They have attachments containing viruses. Do not open any email that looks suspicious. The only genuine email from the Sequoia Paddlers is from our listserver. Be very suspicious of anything with an attachment.
E-BLAST - Want to get an "E-Blast" when we send one out? What is it you ask? It is an email message about current or important paddling issues or events disseminated by the Sequoia Paddlers to all who are on the E-Blast recipient list. The e-addresses that are on this list are not public and are not disseminated to any other entities. If you are interested in receiving this occassional information from us just advise the keeper of the list at webmaster@sequoiapc.org

What Sunscreen Is Best For Paddlers? Is your sunscreen actually protecting you like it promises? Of the 500 beach and sports sunscreens that EWG* analyzed for their 2010 Sunscreen Guide, they only recommend 8 percent of them. Between the false sense of security from sunscreens with an SPF of 50 or higher, and new data linking vitamin A to accelerated development of skin tumors and lesions, most products don't live up to their hype. In fact, EWG found that wearing a hat and shirt in the sun should be your first line of defense, then using an EWG recommended sunscreen.

Paddling Film -- Must See
"Birthright" by Sean Mullens -- it's only five minutes long. I first read about it on pg 14-15 in the June issue of Canoe & Kayak magazine. You have to see it: Birthright
No "I can't" from this guy. Watch the movie first, then read the article.
Collectible T-Shirts Available! We have a small supply of genuine "Sequoia Paddling Club" T-Shirts. Once these are gone, none will ever be printed again! More Info
